It’s no secret that Ridgefield is growing, but did you know Ridgefield School District is Southwest Washington’s fastest growing district and our community is one of the most desirable places to live on the west coast? Families from near and far are moving to Ridgefield to experience our great schools, beautiful open spaces, small town charm, and a sense of community that is difficult to match. We have added approximately 1400 students since 2014 and our student enrollment is expected to grow by another 1760 students over the next five years. To put this in perspective, that equates to a 55% increase in students by 2024. More tangibly, it is comparable to Ridgefield receiving the entire Hockinson School District student population.
Dealing with such rapid growth is not easy. We are fortunate to live in a community where education is valued. The 2017 bond enabled the district to build the new Sunset Ridge Intermediate School and the replacement View Ridge Middle School, as well as open a new 42,000 square foot addition at Ridgefield High School that replaced a nearly 50 year old science building.
Still, the growth outpaces our efforts. As a result, each year the District adds portables to our existing campuses to serve the hundreds of new students excited to call Ridgefield home. Learn more about the real cost of portables.
